Please do.

I Support blankPixels' Ibang-Iba ang Pasko ng Makabagong Pilipino

I am making this viral post, not only because blankPixels' a friend but because I agree with what her official entry (to Sulit's Christmas card-making contest) says.

Indeed, technology plays a huge part of how we connect and re-connect with friends and loved ones from different parts of the country (even abroad). Through Facebook, Friendster, Multiply, Twitter, Blogs and the likes now everyone’s just a wall post, a comment and a message away.

As blankPixels puts it:
"Ngayong Pasko, nagpapasalamat ako sa Diyos sa mga teknolohiyang ito (internet, digital camera, computers) na nakakatulong para madaling magbuklod-buklod muli ang mga pamilya, kahit nasaang lupalop pa sila ng mundo."

See her Christmas card entry below:

In Hiatus

hi·a·tus  (h-ts)
n. pl. hi·a·tus·es or hiatus
1. A gap or interruption in space, time, or continuity; a break:

Q4 at work = b.u.s.y.n.e.s.s – that’s what happened. Gosh. There are a lot of stuff I wasn't able to blog about. From the Marketing Department Halloween Party, Trick or Treat-ing with my nephew, my mom's birthday, The Social Network (movie) and even the new TV Series I'm into - The Walking Dead.

But today I am finally back – hopefully I can blog about all these including the just watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: the first part of the (Harry Potter movies) final installment - the beginning of the end.

So there.. To be continued (on to the next post please!) :D

Rain or Shine it’s time to Paint the Town Pink! The BDJ 2011 Fair / Launch!

A Tropical Cyclone Alert, Tropical Depression "KATRING", has been issued by PAGASA at 11:00 p.m. today, October 23, 2010 -- but we're still going! I, my sisters and all other soul-sister bellas will surely be there tomorrow at the Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill, Fort Area.

This is the FIRST TIME the 2011 BDJ Power Planner will be made available! And we'll get 20% off on our BDJ 2011 Planner – FOR THIS DAY ONLY!!

Pre-registration
We've decided to play an active role in the fair's festivities and pre-registered in several activities.

I joined the scavenger hunt (and gets to be on the Blue Team) however, as each activity is limited to certain number of slots, I didn't get to be in the two other activities I signed-up for. *sniff* So I just hope blue team wins and that I'd still be able to join other activities! I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Here's the line-up of the BDJ Fair activities:

2:30-3:00PM : SCAVENGER HUNT: THE PINK SERIES
Are you the next Sherlock Holmes? Test your detective prowess as you look for pink treasures and complete certain activities all over the BDJ Fair and Venice Piazza. Meet new friends and challenge your knack for exploring and carrying out tasks! Don’t forget to bring your digital camera and comfortable shoes for this! Exciting prizes await the winners of this race!

3:00-3:45PM: BASKING IN THE PINK OF SUCCESS
Make your mark in the corporate world! Turn your workplace dilemmas into personal victories by using valuable tips by Jean Madrid, brand manager of Cornetto ice cream, on how to effectively market yourself. You’ll definitely get tips to help you rise above that corporate ladder and give you that long-awaited promotion in no time!

4:25-5:00PM: IN THE PINK OF HEALTH
Find out how you can get that healthy, happy and ready-to-conquer-the-world look with one of L’oreal’s professional makeup artists. Be inspired with pink-based day and night makeup that will make you radiate with that sun-kissed and natural glow.

5:00-5:20PM: FOLDED & HUNG / JELLYBEAN STYLING COMPETITION
Get a chance to show off your styling prowess by creating looks that define Folded & Hung and Jellybean’s brand image. To join, all you have to do is register and submit a full length photo of yourself in an outfit that you styled with your contact no. 10 girls total will be chosen to create a day look for Jellybean (5 girls) and a night look for Folded & Hung (5 girls). Please specify which look you want to participate in. You must be available on Oct 16 (Sat) for the styling competition, and on Oct 24 (Sun) during the fair for the awarding. Accepted participants will be confirmed by Oct 14 (Thurs).

6:40-7:00PM: I WANT TO BE A SUPERMODEL!
Here’s your chance to brave the runway! To be part of the 20 models for The Ramp, Crossings Fashion Show, you must answer in detail how you used your The Ramp coupon in your BDJ power planner (ex: I used it to buy an outfit for a date with a new boy I just met), and submit a full body photo with your vital stats (bust, waist and hips size) and contact no. Accepted models will be confirmed by October 20 (Wed).

7:05-7:50PM: PRETTY IN PINK
Don't let the latest trends dictate how you should look! Donna Cuna-Pita, a professional fashion and image consultant, will share with you her trademark tips on how to wear pink in various ways. Fuse fashion with your own personal flair by exploring the color palette and taking risks with layering and fabric textures. At the end of it, you’ll be sure to be your own best style statement!

Anyways, even if I don’t get to join the rest of the activities, there'll be Free Fortune-Telling, Bungee Jumping, Photo booths, Free Facials from CLARITY, Free Body Fat Analysis and BP Checks from HEALTHWAY, Free Eye Refraction Services from EVISU EYEWEAR, and even shop (till we drop) on items from BDJ Lifestyle brands!

There should've been free cocktail drinks from THE BAR and SOBERCLUB as well, but in honour of the liquor ban for the October 25th local election – there won’t be any of that anymore – BUT BDJ says The Bar would give out gift packs instead. Yay!

We saved the date! :)

When: October 24, 2010, Sunday
Time: 2pm – 9pm
Venue: Venice Piazza, McKinley Hill, Fort Area
Entrance: Php 50 (for walk-ins); Php 30 (for pre-registered BDJ Girls)

♥ 100% of Entrance Proceeds will go to Scuola della Guioia, a school for underprivileged kids in Tondo, Manila. ♥

For those who can't attend the BDJ Fair, but want to order the BDJ 2011 Power Planner, you can reserve your order by emailing IwantBDJ@belledejourpowerplanner.com. And keep checking BDJ's website and facebook account!

Keeping a planner has never been cool!

Goin’ Bananas over Pan De Manila' s Banana Mon!

I love bananas! Okay, who doesn’t?!
Pan De Manila gave me another reason to love bananas all the more – BananaMons! They’re not cute little monsters in a ball, nor teens WhO tyPeZ lYKeS tH1s pfOuh – just good ol’ banana bread in the form of mamons.

Made from real lacatan bananas with sprinkle of brown sugar on top. I think those are panutsa bits, which I really love! YUM!!

Currently, bananamon's my happy food. Best paired with chim's own mix of coffee.

They also have the Banana Loaf meant for sharing. Same taste only bigger. You should definitely try 'em! :D

Most of us have a relationship with God; some of those relationships are closer than others. It doesn’t matter how close you are to Him or how far away He may seem, He is calling every one of us to deepen that relationship and He has nothing but LOVE waiting for us as we accept His call. There's always more of His love for everyone; all we have to do is yield ourselves more deeply to it and receive it.

For many Are Called, But Few Are Chosen - Matthew 22:14
Last May 15 and 16, 2010 - My life changed when I answered to God’s call, and I will be forever grateful. It could be your life this time. God is waiting for you. ♥

P.S. Thanks Rachel Brillante for the best description of what the LSS is all about :)

SEO Training for Bloggers - Chim was there!

Been waiting weeks for these and I can’t believe I'm late! For only a few minutes though - thank God!

I came home late last night, as we had to buy my godson a gift for his baptism this same day, October 2, 2010. Since I couldn’t be in two places at the same time – I had my hunny covered for me. Yup, he’s my superproxy. Haha!

Truth is, I had second thoughts of joining and attending - lots of events came up. Iñigo's  baptism, even our Post GSS # 4 (which I sadly wasn't able to attend *sniff*) - and although I do regret not being able to attend our post GSS, I'm actually pretty glad I did attend this training. I now have a project for myself - let's see how it turns out! :)

Resident Evil: Afterlife - It's Alice. She's Back.

Was able to watch the movie 2 weeks ago, but didn’t have the chance to post my review – so here goes: :P

As the virus continue to spread across the globe, turning great number of world population into the “undead”, Alice (Milla Jovovich) returns together with her clones to attack the Umbrella Facility in Tokyo.

She eventually loses her superhuman abilities and strength when her new nemesis, Wesker, successfully injected a new serum to her system.

She found Claire (Ali Larter) along the way, as well as several other survivors who found refuge in a high security prison. Where Chris (Wentworth Miller), believed to be a killer of some sort, has been locked up in a maximum security cell by the few others. (I didn’t get why they did that though - he's obviously virus-free and could be an asset to the team. Oh well.)

Most of these survivors have been killed in their quest to get to Arcadia. A place believed to be zombie-free, but turned out to be an Umbrella facility in the middle of the ocean.

I'm a fan of the game. Too bad Jill Valentine didn't get as much exposure ever since. Girl crush?? We'll she could kick zombie-butts in Resident Evil games! Speaking of which, zombies in this movie reminds me of the "mutant vampires" in one of those Blade movies. Something to do with their mouth.

And if I may add, even the Redfields didn't have as much action scenes. I think these characters deserve more than a few combat and gun scenes! Although.. notice that Chris knows the way out of their prison refuge - Wentworth - still. Prison break? How cute! Haha!

Not much with the storyline too. Seeing a crazed Claire, I thought it would be PlayStation 2's Resident Evil 4 plot where they would fight humans this time. But nah.

Lots of 3D worthy scenes (I think. Didn't get to watch this in 3D. Boo!). The big guy with the big axe looks familiar though.. Silent Hill's Pyramid Head?

The movie was entertaining nonetheless. Some parts were scream-worthy. For me at least! And yes, I would still want to watch the next movie - if there'd be any. :P

My name is Alice. I had worked for the Umbrella Corporation. Five years ago, the T-Virus escaped, and everybody died. Trouble was... they didn't stay dead.

Despicable Me: the world's greatest villain is now the greatest dad

A heart-warming story of a villain you can’t help but love. Gru (Steve Carell), needs to prove and gain his title back as the World’s #1 villain. So together with Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) and his army of minions, they planned to steal the moon! Yup, to shrink it - then steal it. A plan which unfortunately been foiled by Vector (John Segel), the new and younger super-villain in town.

Gru adopts three little orphaned girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes - used them to get to Vector, steal the shrink ray back and finally be able to steal the moon.

What he wasn’t prepared for however, is the change in him brought about by the growing love for these kids who sees him as their dad. He may have failed in his grand scheme, but he did make his mom proud in the end. Everybody happy – including me! :D

Li’l Agnes and the minions are just adorable. A funny and touching movie at the same time. Awww moments would be when the kids and the minions offered their savings because the bank disapproved the loan. As well as when Gru read the new bedtime story – a book he actually wrote!

It goes: One big unicorn, strong and free, thought he was happy as he could be. Then three little kittens came around and turned his whole life upside down. They made him laugh, they made him cry. He never should have said goodbye. And now he knows he can never part from those three little kittens that changed his heart.

Awww.

Ryan, Weng, Ely, Chim and Ria

ate Jophen and kuya Chi

Being able to attend this event, I learned: that successful businesses always start with an innovative idea and grows when you have the passion and perseverance to make it work. Although choosing your team is highly critical and motivation is a must, success also comes from the love of the craft (or learning to love the craft), then harnessing it along the way.

It's true that starting a business is not always easy, but there are people and organizations willing to help - especially with funding!

Most importantly, remember that once "up there", we must not forget to give back to the world. ♥

Oh. and yes of course, that it's pretty cool to be a geek!

Happy 11th Birthday Blogger.com!

Chim and Ria

Did I mention that to top it all off - I won (thru raffle) on both events! A ticket for two to the Olivia Live concert at East Wood (Entrep Summit) and an Oreo gift pack from Geiser Maclang Communications Inc. (Blogger Fiesta)!

Bellas Share a Smile and Inspire

Last Saturday, August 21st, marked my first time to join an outreach program.

It was Belle de Jour’s second installment of the BDJ Passion Series.

To join we needed to submit a photo of our favorite spread in the BDJ planner and tell them why.

I submitted my January calendar spread.

Here's why: “I love the monthly pages because it's where I put important events (in advance) and those that I was able to accomplish, including the highlights of each day. ♥ “

The outreach venue was in Tondo, Manila - Scuola della Gioia, in cooperation with Fr. Giovanni Gentilin of the San Pablo Apostol Parish.

MEETING PLACE:
McDonald’s near Quezon Avenue MRT Station
(Corner of EDSA and Quezon Ave, across Centris Mall)

DATE AND TIME:
August 21 (Saturday), 7 am – 1 pm

The kids were already waiting for us when we arrived.

After the brief introduction of all their "ate" for the day - off to the presentation:

 Ang  Alamat ng Unggoy

Ang Sakim na Kapitbahay

Now, for some FUN!

Let's do this! Group 2 - for the win!
The Relay Game (Cup and Straw or  Calamansi and Spoon Game) - which as you can see I'm a part of! Group #2 wins! Yay!

The Boat is Sinking ("Nalulunod ang barko") haha! yes, we meant lumulubog ang barko! :P

Then we teach them how to properly wash the hands and brush the teeth:

rub-a-dub-dub
Handwashing Techniques

"ngiiiiiiiiii"
 Teeth-brushing Techniques

And finally - LUNCH!

Danica Mae, Mark Lawrence, Racquel, Kristine, Judy Anne and Christian
I hope I spelled their names correctly!

Most of these kids still live in the Smokey Mountain part of Tondo, a place called Aromas. We weren't able to visit their homes but we've been told that half of the day spent with them already meant a lot.

The day ended and we had to go home. I just hope and pray that we did inspire them. So they would remember that there's still hope out there, that there are people who think of them, and most importantly, God the Father loves them dearly and cares for them.

'til we meet again!

“There are many in the world who are dying for a piece of bread, but there are many more dying for a little love.”
- Mother Teresa

It was really a heart-warming, humbling and fulfilling experience for me. Indeed, it's true that "in helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us" - Flora Edwards

I can't wait for the next outreach! ♥

28 August 2010

just keep blogging!

What a crazy week! Been pretty busy at work so I never had the chance to post this entry - thanks to my non-wifi-capable Nokia N70 (bitter), I'm able to save a draft of what's been running through my mind at the moment. woot! :P

So there, after I couldn't find my "creative juices", you might think I'm already done with blogging. I thought so too! haha!

BUT I refuse to give up.

I may not be able to do this everyday, nor use "deep", techy, (add-term-here) words in my entries, but that doesn't mean I'd stop there.

Every day is a new day. A fresh start, an opportunity for adventure, a chance to meet people, make new friends, most importantly a time to do something with the possibility to make a change.

I'm not saying it's easy because I know it's definitely not! Hey - even I find it hard to blog!

But when life gets you down and you can't think of anything worth posting here - you know what you've gotta do?

Just keep blogging!

.. just keep blogging, blogging, blogging. ♪ ♫

17 August 2010

creative juices where art thou?

What’s wrong with today?? I can’t think of anything worth sharing.

I wouldn’t want to write that today is not a good day for me - and I certainly hope not! It’s like sharing negative vibes and who would want that?

Not even me.

I promised myself that I’d be more optimistic. And learn to count all the blessings I receive instead. So for the email that sort-of ruined my morning. Damn you. Delete forever! Haha!

It’s too early to admit defeat  (it’s not even lunch time. Boo!) I will try again later. ♥

16 August 2010

When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.

Literally.

Today we’ve started drinking Lemon Water. Pauso ng aking ka-officemate, Charlie Oracion. Pang detox yata or pampayat – something to that effect (haha). We’ve noticed him doing this for several days na, pero ngayon namin napagdesisyunan i-try. (Bumili na ako kahapon ng 3pcs nung nag grocery kami, pero hinde ko na-prepare. Tamad mode sa umaga.)

     What You Need:
  • H2O
  • Water bottle o baso
  • Kutsilyong pang hiwa
  • Lemons (syempre!)

     What to Do:
  1. Siguraduhing malinis ang lemons. Hugasan.
  2. Hiwain ang lemons ng pantay-pantay (joke) – kahit anong hiwa pede na. basta kakasya sa baso mo.
  3. Maglagay ng ilang piraso sa water bottle, baso or in my case sa Starbucks tumbler ko. (Kailangan pa talaga sabihin yon?)
  4. Lagyan ng tubig. (Voila! May lemon water ka na!)
  5. Haluin at inumin.
Charlie suggested we buy our week-long lemon stock para mas masaya (and para wag na namin kunin ang dala nyang lemons dba!). Doing something like this with your friends, I think, is actually helpful and more fun. Mas nagagawa mo. Parang diet and jogging. Mahirap gawin pag nag-iisa. (Kakatamad kaya!)

The Verdict:

Masarap naman. Refreshing! (walang tingly feeling katulad nung kumain ako ng fresh Durian for the first (and would be last) time. Brrr.)

     (What You Need):
  • Honey or Vodka – optional

Enjoy! :D

Pressured. Not!

There - me and my big mouth (haha!) told my good friend Ely that I've already started a blog. Too much for incognito. I was too excited that I can't help but tell him I've done it. No regrets though, he inspired me after all.

Well, I felt I owe him that, after all I did use his page to rant about the gum on the bus’ handle. (chewed gum na nahawakan ko bago ako bumaba ng bus isang umaga. Kaasar. The perfect way to start your morning dba!)

He’s even excited and happy for me! Said he’s gonna launch my blog on his blog to promote and gain more hits. S-w-e-e-t! (Google analytics stuff - we'll get to that. soon!)  Although… is that even possible? After all, this is a personal blog. Who would bother checking random thoughts from little ol’ chim, right? Well, besides family, friends.. (haters of course!) Kasi naman, do I really have to ask?!

Anyway, I haven’t given him the link yet. A few more posts wouldn’t hurt. :P

So here I am adding another entry. Baby steps, yes. But it’s progress nonetheless! Woot!

So am I pressured? So NOT. Happy to say - I’m Inspired. ♥

14 August 2010

Chim did it - Finally!

Yup. I've FINALLY decided to start a blog!

I love writing but I never see myself sharing thoughts, feelings and a whole lot of stuff about me for everyone to see. That's why I keep a journal instead.

But i'm bored lately. And I've been thinking about starting one anyway - it's even included in my list of 2010 goals (it's already August I know!) So there, cheers to my first ever post! :D

Now off to try and make this blog more decent.

I'm pretty excited. I did it! Hooray! ♥
